Recognising Young Territorians
There are a range of awards offered for young people in the Northern Territory. They range from awards for business achievements to the recognition of community involvement.

NT Young Achiever Awards
The NT Young Achiever Awards are managed by Awards Australia. The Awards recognise those young Territorians who have contributed positively to their communities through their achievements.

Nominations are now open for the Northern Territory Young Achiever Awards 2012. Nominate an amazing young person in your community aged between 14 and 26 years!

Minister for Young Territorians Excellence in Youth Leadership Award
The Minister for Young Territorians Excellence in Youth Leadership Award is sponsored by the Office of Youth Affairs and runs in conjunction with the NT Young Achiever Awards.

The Award recognises young Territorians who have displayed initiative, innovation, a commitment to themselves and others, and the pursuit of excellence in a leadership capacity. The winner of the Award receives $2000 and a magnificent trophy.

The Young Achiever Awards also recognises young Territorians in the following categories:

The Northern Territory Government Career Achievement Award
The McArthur River Mining Regional & Rural Initiative Award
The Minister for Young Territorians Excellence in Youth Leadership Award
The Somerville Community Services Award
The Northern Territory Government Young Carers Award
The Charles Darwin University Arts Award
The Power & Water Science and Engineering Award
The Toll Marine Logistics & Toll Transitions Sports Award
The ConocoPhillips Environment Award

The overall Channel Nine Young Achiever of the Year for the Northern Territory receives a further $2000.

Territorian of the Year Awards
Announced on Territory Day, 1 July, the Territorian of the Year Awards recognises Territorians who, by their industry, innovation and achievement, have made a substantial contribution to the opportunities and lifestyle of their fellow Territorians.

The Protocol Unit in the Department of the Chief Minister is responsible for managing special celebrations and events, including the Territorian of the Year Awards.

The Rural Young Achievers Awards
Managed by the Department of Resources, the Rural Young Achievers Award is presented as part of the Freds Pass Rural Show to recognise the talents and achievements of young people in rural industries and communities. Through the Rural Young Achievers Award, young people are encouraged to develop their skills in a range of areas relating to rural life and in public speaking.

Student Citizen Awards
The Student Citizen Awards, which are organised by the Australia Day Council in the NT, are sponsored by the Department of Education and Training.

The Awards recognise good citizenship, not just academic or sporting achievement and promote positive, achievable youth self-image. The Awards recognise the contributions that young people make to schools and the wider community and are a celebration of all young people.
